The book begins its journey in Berwick and embarks on a broadly circular tour of the region, during the course of which it aims to present the huge range of sites and scenery that give the Borders their special charm. The River Tweed, together with its tributaries such as the Teviot and Yarrow, defines (and drains!) the area and the influence of this iconic river is portrayed in these pages. A sense of the region's turbulent past can also be gained through the many castles and forts that are liberally scattered throughout the Borders. This new collection contains over 100 pictures, the great majority of which are published here for the first time.
