War in the Pacific and Far East: The Battles Sixty-Five Years On

In two bold forays the Japanese successfully emasculated Allied Naval Power in the Eastern hemisphere. In the attack on Pearl Harbor four battleships, three cruisers and three destroyers were sunk; two days later British battleships Prince of Wales and Repulse were attacked and sunk by torpedo bombers 300 north of Singapore. These actions were the overture to Japan's Blitzkrieg and that nation's domination of the Far East.
