This short book but interesting book is a brief introduction to the history of witchcraft in Scotland with particular focus on the witch hunts of the 16th and 17th centuries. The book is split into a number of chapters that each focus on a different aspect of witchcraft, beginning with three chapters that introduce witchcraft in general before moving on to the powers generally associated with witchcraft and information on the Scottish witch hunts. The most interesting parts of the book however are the chapters on real life witches, such as the North Berwick Witches and Major Thomas Weir, as well as the chapter on more legendary practitioners of the occult such as Lord Soulis and Aleister Crowley. The book finishes with a couple of short chapters on the use of witches in poetry and the state of modern witchcraft in Scotland.
